Uncomplicating Romantic ideas

Romantic ideas don't always have to be extravagant or over the top this as one couple showed me and the rest of the world...
They were just like any other couple in love. But the way they brought their love to each other was something truly special.
It was only a short and simple message, yet it meant everything.
They used it as part of a game. They would take turns leaving the special message behind for the other to find. The message would always read...

'SHMILY'... Whether it be written on the last sheet of toilet paper, or written on the fogged up mirror in the bathroom to chalk scribbles along the path she would always take to work... This tradition continued through their marriage and through the hardest of times. Never waivering, never faltering to continue to show their love and appreciation to one another. It only stopped the day when one half passed away... |
Then one day one of their grand kids came across the message, SHMILY, and approached grandma to ask "What is SHMILY nan?"
A tear found its way into her eyes and she simply answers...
"See How Much I Love You..."
So, how do you say it?
They don't have to be on a grand, expensive and time consuming scale. They can be made through the simplest acts of leaving the message in their letterbox or the surprise of a napkin rose carefully hidden in her handbag.
Romance and love comes in all shapes and sizes.
